Director of Education
Prior to coming to the Arboretum Emily coordinated, wrote, and taught pre-K to grade 5 school programs for the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden at the New York Botanical Garden. Before that, she was a classroom teacher for 10 years in NYC public schools with a couple of brief stints in private schools: one in Honduras and one in Wyoming. Her training is in special and bilingual (Spanish/English) education. She completed UConn's Master Gardener program at the Arboretum in 2015. She absolutely loves teaching outdoors. When she is not at the Arboretum, she is often exploring outside with her 4-year-old daughter.
Danielle (Dani) Staunton
Dani brings with her varied experiences from her many travels around the U.S. and beyond. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Pennsylvania, she traveled to the U.K. to complete her Master’s degree in Applied Ecology and Conservation. After living in the U.K. for two years, Dani returned to the U.S., working in environmental education, first in Rhode Island with the University of Rhode Island, and then Georgia with the University of Georgia. Most recently Dani was living in Montana serving as an AmeriCorps member, working as an education coordinator at a state park. She is delighted to be back in the Northeast, and is enjoying teaching at the Arboretum.
