Friday February 12th: Rainforest Ecology

Monday February 15th: Nature Art
Description: If you have a “budding” artist in your family this a great day to sign up. Using items such as tree bark, evergreen needles, leaf buds, sand and sticks we’ll create a variety of projects that will open your child up to new and exciting ways to experience art.
Tuesday February 16th: Insects and Invertebrates
Description: There might not be a ton of insect activity outside in February, but campers will have an opportunity to take advantage of our insect and invertebrate collection. We’ll dig in our worm bin, meet a desert arachnid, and a rainforest decomposer. Camp staff will plan a variety of games and arts and crafts activities that highlight our boneless and leggy friends.
April Vacation Camp: April 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. 9am-3pm. Ages 5-11.
Monday April 4th: Worms, Soils, and Composting
Description: If you have a child at home who likes to get dirty, dig in the soil, and maybe likes to bring a squiggly friend home from time to time, then this is the perfect day for him/her. We’ll explore the underground world up-close, getting to know all the creatures that live there, and how the work together to create a healthy environment for plants and people.
Tuesday April 5th: Wilderness Skills and Exploration
Description: Campers will work together to learn some basic outdoor skills in a fun and safe setting. We’ll learn how to read maps and use compasses, build a shelter in the Arboretum forest, and work on some tracking and plant identification. We’ll also have some special visitors from local scouting organizations helping throughout the day.
Wednesday April 6th: Early Bloomers
Description: April is one of those months where there is a lot going on outside! We’ll explore our gardens and grounds for signs of plants waking up from the cold winter. We’ll decorate our own flowerpots and plant some seeds in our greenhouse. This is the perfect day for young gardener in your family.
Thursday April 7th: Reptiles and Amphibians
Description: Our coldblooded friends don’t have it easy in the wintertime. As the temperatures drop, so does their activity. When things start to warm up in the spring, those early weeks are one of the best times of year to check up on snakes, salamanders, toads, frogs, and turtles. We’ll do just that, exploring every inch of our 93 acres for signs of land and activity from our slimy and scaly friends.
Friday April 8th: Desert Ecology
Description: Campers will get an introduction to deserts from around the world. We’ll get an introduction to Bartlett’s diverse succulent collection, and learn about what special adaptations plants and animals in the desert need to survive in such a harsh environment. Campers who join us on this day will take home their own baby succulent to care for.
