Turf: How Green is Your Grass?

Renovation of your lawn in the late summer/early fall gives the new lawn time to become well established before it faces competition from weeds and hot dry weather the following summer. This class will provide a step-by–step approach to renovation of an existing lawn or establishment of a new lawn.

Vegetable Garden Tour & Canning Demonstration

Advanced Master Gardeners Eve Mauger, Cynthia Lupo and Elaine Hjelte, who are responsible for the design and maintenance of the Bartlett’s Vegetable Garden will talk about Fall harvesting of late season vegetables. Immediately following the tour, Cynthia Lupo will give a canning demonstration so you can enjoy your harvested vegetables in the dead of Winter. Meet in front of the Silver Education Center

Change happens. Many still dream of ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ landscapes but reality has muddied the picture. Job demands, kids, money, hectic schedules, aging bodies, and changing interests have led to nightmare gardens. Time for some ‘editing’. This inspiring lecture provides easy-to-follow downsizing strategies, recommended no-fuss plant material, and design tips for stunning year-round gardens that will be as close to autopilot as you can get. The lecture also includes organic and sustainable practices. Taught by author, Kerry Ann Mendez who's newest book, The Right-Size Flower Garden, will be released in February 2015.
