Community Outreach

Throughout the year Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens' staff work with several local non-profit organizations, providing both on and off site nature based programming to the children associated with these organizations.

Inspirica (Formerly known as St. Luke's Lifeworks)

Twice monthly visits with children aged 5 - 10 offer them an opportunity to meet and learn about a variety of plants and animals. Children participate in hands-on projects such as pumpkin decorating, bulb planting, etc.

Scholarships to the Arboretum's summer camp are provided to children of Inspirica.

Yerwood Center

Weekly visits to the Yerwood Center's extended day program offers K-3rd graders options to explore nature based topics and participate in activities aimed to promote literacy.

During the summer of 2010 4th and 5th grade children from Yerwood s Summer Camp visited the Arboretum weekly to explore our 91-acre property. Some of the topics the campers had an opportunity to learn about through hands-on activities were vegetable gardening, pond ecology, native plants and trees and the dangers of invasive plants.
