New: Introduction to Drawing Plants

4 Saturdays, May 20 – June 10, 2023, 10 am – 1 pm

It is a natural progression to move from admiring plants to wanting to express their beauty in art.  This introductory class teaches you how to create realistic botanical drawings using simple plants around our homes or local markets.  No prior drawing experience is required!

Learn to use graphite pencils in a variety of ways to achieve realism.  Demonstrations and simple exercises emphasize key principles and drawing methods.

Draw a different subject each week such as leaves, fruits, and flowers.  The class provides valuable insights for drawing in graphite and a foundation for further study in colored pencil and watercolor.

Cost: $170. Members: log in to receive a 10% discount.

INSTRUCTOR: Kathie Miranda is a contemporary multi-media artist and educator. A graduate of Pace University, with further studies at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and Paier College of Art, she coordinated the Art program at the New York Botanical Garden and is past president of the New York chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.
