Mary Borba

Co-Vice Chair

Mary is a current member of the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens Board of Directors, where she serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Board, chairs the Governance Committee and HR Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee.

Prior to her retirement in 2015, Mary Borba served as Vice President of Human Resources at Argonaut Insurance Company and then Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Boehringer Ingelheim, USA. In her last role, she was responsible for providing strategic guidance and HR solutions for 10,000 people.  She was a member of the BI US Corporate Management Committee and the Global Human Resources Committee.  She has over 30 years of Human Resources experience in progressively responsible positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, followed by assignments as Head of Human Resources for the Americas Division of Swiss Reinsurance Company, and the Managing Director for Human Resources for North America at Marsh USA.

For a number of years, Mary served as a member on the HR and Audit Committees for the Girl Scouts USA National Board of Directors. Mary was also a member of the Board of Directors for Ability Beyond, serving as Co-Vice Chair of the Board, head of the HR Committee, and a member of the Governance and Executive Committees.  She also led the search committee for the new CEO of Ability Beyond.

Mary has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Maryland and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.  She and her husband, Philip, have been residents of Stamford for over 30 years.
