A good botanical illustration combines an accurate painting of the plant and some planning on the artist’s part.
During this 6-week, online watercolor class, we will consider a variety of composition possibilities to create simple designs with 3 elements. Classes will take place each Thursday, beginning Thursday, September 29 at 10 AM. Students will select seasonal specimens that interest you; for example, flowering plants, shrubs, vines or flowers from your local florist. And add natural science specimens such as shells, feathers, and butterflies for traditional accents.
You will follow along with live demonstrations by the instructor to learn general guidelines for arranging multiple elements into a pleasing design. Learn how to allow watercolor application to spread naturally with just a few strokes as well as practical strategies for adding detail and texture in dry brush.
Some drawing and watercolor experience is required. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own materials. A materials list and Zoom link will be provided.
