Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens’ camp programs offer immersion into the natural world through exploration of the arboretum’s 93 acres of forest, collections, and gardens. Programming is hands-on and incorporates STEAM concepts (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) in age-appropriate contexts. In addition to the weekly themes, there is time each day for games and relaxation
In inclement or extremely hot weather, we will continue our nature exploration in the air-conditioned environment of the Silver Educational Center.

Week 2: There is no camp on Friday, July 4th. Members: $355, Non-members: $380

Camp Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Extended hours will be offered at an additional cost: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Food: Snacks are provided. Campers should bring a nut-free, shellfish-free, sesame oil-free lunch.
Ages: Campers must be entering K - entering 5th grade.
Attire: Campers should dress appropriately for the weather.

Kick off the summer getting wet and keeping cool by exploring the Bartlett Arboretum’s aquatic habitats. We’ll wade into streams, search for birds and reptiles along our wetland boardwalk, and of course, do lots of netting and scooping in our pond for amphibians, insects, and more.

Who left those mysterious tracks? Which animal calls that hidden den home? Become a woodland detective as you explore trails and paths, learning to spot the signs left behind by our elusive crepuscular and nocturnal neighbors. From animal tracks to secret hideaways, each day will bring new discoveries and thrilling adventures in the great outdoors.

From food and shelter to clothing, medicine, art, and even spiritual purposes, plants have been essential to human life for thousands of years. This week, you’ll unleash your creativity with fun plant-inspired activities, explore the wonders of nature, and gain a newfound appreciation for the majestic trees and greenery found at the Bartlett Arboretum.

Calling all adventurers! Gear up for a week of discovery as you explore trails, wetlands, and woodlands in search of hidden treasures and fascinating artifacts. Learn how to navigate like a pro using maps, compasses, and sundials, and uncover the stories the land has to tell.

Explore the world of nature and become inspired to create and discover! What can you do to help the environment? Come and join us for hands-on explorations of crafting and engineering with natural and recyclable materials and learn and practice how to be responsible environmental stewards.

Buzz, flutter, and crawl into the fascinating world of insects! While bees and butterflies often steal the spotlight, every bug has an important job in our ecosystems. Campers will step into the role of field entomologists, using real tools and methods to safely collect, observe, and learn about our six-legged friends. Discover their amazing behaviors, unique features, and the critical roles they play in nature - all while having hands-on fun!

From birds soaring above to butterflies fluttering by and dragonflies darting gracefully, campers will explore the mechanics of flight and the unique ways these animals navigate their environments. With binoculars for spotting, fun outdoor games, and colorful crafts, each day will be filled with hands-on adventures and a newfound appreciation for our flying friends!

This final week of camp will take an appreciation of nature to the next level. Campers will learn and practice beginner wilderness survival skills to gain confidence spending time outdoors. This includes orienteering, animal tracking, making cordage from natural materials, knot tying, water purification, temporary shelter building, and it wouldn’t be complete without a campfire and s’mores.
