In 1965 the State of Connecticut purchased F.A. Bartlett’s home and property, setting in motion the establishment of what today is the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens.
To celebrate, the Bartlett is hosting a year-long series called 60 Years /60 Trees. This series of six walks, one every other month, is designed to tell the story of this organization through its trees. Some are Notable and Champion trees and some are simply storied and dear to the people who have worked or volunteered here over the years. The list was chosen by a team of volunteers, UCONN Master Gardeners, staff, and board members.
We hope you will join us on this journey.
Walk 4: Ornamental and DIY
This is a great walk if you are looking to learn about planting trees on your property! Join Lenny Macari, Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens Grounds manager for a walk that discusses some of our interesting ornamental trees, many of which he has planted and cared for over the past two decades. How does an Arboretum decide what to plant, and where to plant it to ensure its longevity? Lenny can answer these questions and many more!
