In 1965 the State of Connecticut purchased F.A. Bartlett’s home and property, setting in motion the establishment of what today is the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens.
To celebrate, the Bartlett is hosting a year-long series called 60 Years /60 Trees. This series of six walks, one every other month, is designed to tell the story of this organization through its trees. Some are Notable and Champion trees and some are simply storied and dear to the people who have worked or volunteered here over the years. The list was chosen by a team of volunteers, UCONN Master Gardeners, staff, and board members.
We hope you will join us on this journey.
Walk 6: Conifers
The Bartlett is home to some of the most striking conifer trees in the region, including several Umbrella pines, Hemlocks, False Cypress, Yew, and Pine.
This walk will also explore the Conifer Garden across the street which is home to over 150 Dwarf Conifer.
