Arbor Earth Day

  • Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens 151 Brookdale Road Stamford, CT 06903 (map)

The event commemorates Arbor Day, highlighting the value of trees to our community, and Earth Day, showcasing environmental conservation efforts in our region. Our vision is to inspire generations to care about and conserve Earth’s resources. As in years past, local organizations working to protect our natural environment will be on hand to provide information and activities for participants of all ages. Additional activities will include Tree and Wetlands walks, as well as a special presentation by Cyril the Sorcerer. Bartlett Tree Experts will be handing out tree seedlings to participants while supplies last.

A Note on Parking: Visitors are encouraged to park at Scofield Elementary School on Scofieldtown Road. The school parking lot abuts the Bartlett Property, and the event can be accessed via a short, flat path marked with signs. Total walk time is 5-10 minutes. Strollers with sturdy wheels will do find on this trail.

Children’s Crafts and Activities: All Day

Community Collage Project We will pre-prepare collage boards using old yard signs and kraft paper. Children will use images cut from recycled materials (outdated seed catalogs, calendars, garden and nature magazines, old nature stickers, etc.), as well as markers, crayons, and pencils to create Arbor Day/Earth Day themed collages. We can use these for future events and activities at the Bartlett.

Where: Silver Education Patio.

When: All Day

Seed Starting Project: We will use donated seeds, soil, and small biodegradable pots to teach the kids about starting plants from seed. We will provide 2-3 seed options, they will choose the type of seed they want to plant, fill the pot with soil, water the seed, and take the pot home with them, using a yogurt cup as their "saucer"
