As you walk through the Chamaecyparis or False Cypress area note the many forms with variations in shape, foliage and color. The false-cypress resembles the arborvitae, but can be distinguished by the small white lines on the undersurface of the scale-like leaves. They are easily transplanted and have relatively few insect pests or diseases. Two native species and two introduced species are used extensively in landscaping plantings in this country.
