We frequently think winter colors are only white or gray. Bringing colorful flowers and plants indoors provides an earthy, timeless element that brightens up a long, chilly winter. The amazing variety of colors and textures of botanicals in this season make them fun subjects to paint.
Each week select a different plant to paint from your local florist or green grocer. Classes will take place each Thursday, beginning Thursday, December 1. Try to select seasonal plants that mean “winter” to you; for example, flowers (Amaryllis); vines (American Bittersweet); colorful houseplants (Croton); berries (Holly); and exotic plants (birds-of-paradise).
Follow along with live demonstrations by the instructor to learn how to layer colors to match a variety of greens, from golden to silvery to dark blues, as well as practical strategies to paint multi-colored specimens. Tips for painting realistic textures are presented throughout the course. Some watercolor experience required. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own materials. A materials list and Zoom link will be provided.
