It is a natural progression to move from admiring plants to wanting to express their beauty in art. This introductory class teaches you how to create a realistic botanical drawing using simple plants from around our homes or local markets. No prior drawing experience required!
*Registering for this intro class enters you to win an art supplies gift box from the Bartlett. Giftbox includes a book on botanical illustration, canvases, and more! Winners will be chosen at random.
Class will take place online on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 PM, beginning Thursday, March 31.
The instructor shares her entire approach to composing an idea from start to finish. Demonstrations and simple exercises emphasize key principles and drawing methods. Learn to use graphite pencil in a variety of ways to achieve accuracy.
We will closely examine plant parts individually - stems, leaves and blossoms – to better understand their structure and surface details, and then make an herbarium sheet as a reference for drawing.
